Steam Bath

In Ayurveda, a steam bath, or Swedana, is a therapeutic treatment used to induce sweating and cleanse the body. It is often combined with other Ayurvedic therapies, such as Abhyanga (oil massage), to enhance detoxification and promote relaxation. The steam helps open the pores, allowing the body to release toxins and impurities, improving skin health and circulation. It also stimulates the lymphatic system, aiding in the removal of excess Kapha (the dosha associated with stagnation and congestion).

The treatment is particularly effective for balancing Vata and Kapha doshas, which are responsible for dryness and excess fluid retention in the body. Steam baths can help alleviate muscle stiffness, joint pain, and promote a sense of relaxation. In addition to its detoxifying benefits, the therapy helps reduce stress, promote better sleep, and improve respiratory health by clearing the sinuses and airways.
